Join Forces at The Black & Blue Festival

New York, September 2, 2011 – Bad Boy Club Of Montreal Foundation (www.bbcm.org), the producers of The Black & Blue Festival (October 5 – 11, 2011), have enlisted The Saint At Large (www.saintatlarge.com) producers of the annual Black Party in New York to lend their support to the Leather and Military Balls during the Black and Blue Festival. In honor of the festival’s 21^st Anniversary, the 2011 Festival theme is “Black Jack.”

A robust AIDS fundraising event since 1991, the festival has been held annually in Montreal over Canada’s Independence Day weekend (October 5 – 11) and encompasses numerous events around the city. Two of the most popular are The Leather Ball and The Military Ball taking place this year on October 7 and 8 respectively to be followed by the weekend’s main event, The Black & Blue Ball on October 9.

With an unchallenged reputation as the producers of ultimate fetish event, The Black Party®, The Saint At Large is the perfect partner to produce these two sexually charged gay dance parties. Renowned for its elaborate productions, The Saint At Large will assist BBCM by providing costumes, visual imagery, video content and various other production elements. Additionally, The Saint At Large will also bring a number of very special guest performers. Stephen Pevner, Producer and Owner of The Saint At Large, Inc. says,

“From our earliest association with BBCM and the Black and Blue Festivall, we continue to be inspired by their artistic integrity and their leadership in raising money and awareness for the AIDS epidemic. It is a privilege to be invited to be their partner for their biggest gay dance events during the festival, THE LEATHER and MILITARY BALLS. Montreal is a city that could certainly appreciate the broader definition of fetish that the BLACK PARTY has infused into the larger gay culture over the past 32 years.”

While this perfect union is certainly exciting, this is not the first time the two organizations have worked together. Back in the early years of Black & Blue Festival, Bruce Mailman, the impresario behind the The Saint and founder of The Saint At Large, lent valuable support to the new upstart party. Robert Vezina, President of BBCM Foundation recalls:

“In 1992, while I was preparing for our second Black & Blue Ball, I decided to explore the New York City gay scene. I innocently dared to approach Bruce Mailman of The Saint At Large to ask him if he would help the Black & Blue Ball by allowing us to send our party invitations to The Saint mailing list; a powerful marketing tool at the time. Bruce told me straight out that The Saint “did not do that type of thing for anyone!” However, I managed to convince him and when he saw the video footage of the event, he was glad to be involved. Bruce told me at the time that it was the first time ever that The Saint had associated itself officially in such a way with a party outside New York. The BBCM Foundation has been grateful ever since for his help, as it definitely put the Black & Blue on the North American gay map back in the 90s! Our special association with The Saint At Large remains a deeply important and much appreciated asset to the Black & Blue in Montreal. We’re thrilled to be working together again.”

Taking place at Montreal’s enormous Olympic Stadium and drawing more than 10,000 attendees, The Black & Blue Party—the capstone event of The Black & Blue Festival––remains one of the most elaborately produced and popular annual gay nightlife events in North America. In 2010 it was voted Best International Circuit Party of the Year (Circuit Awards, Just Circuit Magazine) and International Party of the Year (2010 Best Of Edge Awards, Edge Magazine).

The BBCM team is proud to announce that the events of the Twist Weekend will take place during the Montreal Gay Pride (Célébrations de la Fierté Montréal) as part of the official activities. Moved to the second weekend of August, from the 12^th to the 15^th, the BBCM parties will take place in various locations and will feature some of the best talent Montreal has to offer. Make sure you don’t miss the activities surrounding the Gay Pride Parade... for a weekend to remember!

The main event, the Twist Party will take place in three venues, offering a variety of sounds and crowds! Don’t miss the first part on the terrace of Koko lounge (Opus Hotel) on St-Laurent Street, where you’ll enjoy an afternoon in the sun with some of Montreal’s best looking crowd. The second part of the Twist brings you back in the centre of the Gay Village, on all levels of the SKY Complex, with many DJs... and then, end your evening at the world renown Circus Nightclub where you’ll enjoy House, Trance and Tech house music all night!

Montreal's Hot & Dry weekend from May 20 to 23

The BBCM Foundation will present the Hot & Dry Weekend from May 20 to 23 in different venues of the Montreal Gay Village. This event coincides with the beginning of the summer in Montreal and is one of the BBCM’s most popular events. The Hot & Dry takes place on a Canadian holiday Weekend, Victoria Day.

Furthermore, the BBCM Foundation will take advantage of the Hot & Dry Weekend Launch Cocktail to give charitable contributions to different groups which provide direct support and assistance to HIV/AIDS people and to community organizations as well. The 2010 Black & Blue Festival of Montreal wins three prestigious awards

The BBCM Foundation is proud to announce that the 2010 Black & Blue Festival of Montreal has just won three prestigious awards for its 20^th anniversary.

The 2010 Black & Blue Festival, in competition with the Circuit Festival of Barcelona, the GCircuit of Thailand, the Mardi Gras of Sydney and the Prism Party of Toronto, has been voted the International Circuit Party of the Year by JustCircuit Awards of USA. In addition, the Black & Blue Festival has also won the award of the International Party of the year by Edge Awards of New York (http://www.edgeonthenet.com/awards).

A private party with your friends and with the best friendly crowd in town ? This is what the BBCM team is offering this year for its Bal des Boys. Following the success of its private New Year’s party back in 2008, the BBCM decided to offer a similar experience to all their friends (and their own friends) on December 31^st. THE BLACK & BLUE FESTIVAL 20TH ANNIVERSARY : NEW DJs AND ARTISTS CONFIRMED !

The 20th anniversary of the Black & Blue Festival will take place from October 6 to 12 and will be one of the biggest events this year! The world renowned Black & Blue will be attended by thousands of participants on 10/10/10 at Palais des congrès de Montréal! Two rooms will feature a choice of music (house and trance), this year, to please a wider and diversified local and international clientele.

The Founding President, Robert Vézina mentions that “this year’s Black & Blue will feature new elements, but will also look back on its twenty years of existence”. He also announces that this year’s main event will include a « live » component and two rooms: one featuring house music, and the other, trance music. Widely recognized for its original artistic concepts, this year’s Black & Blue Festival will showcase a concept developed in collaboration with lighting design expert François Roupinian of Lightemotion. As lighting is one of the key components of the event, BBCM continues to explore this facet with a view to ensuring use of the very latest in lighting technology. Back once again for 2010 are technical director Sylvain Tessier and sound expert Éric Tourangeau who has brilliantly orchestrated all sound-related aspects of nearly every Black & Blue event from the outset. The DJs and performers of the night are: Mark Anthony, Rosabel (Ralphi Rosario & Abel), Paulette, Chus & Ceballos and the great Hernan Cattaneo in the house room, as well as Aly & Fila, Simon Patterson, Gareth Emery, Carl Muren, Marco V, Omar El Gamal and Tydi in the trance room. The live performing artists are: Emma Hewitt, Audrey Gallagher, Jessy Gauthier, Jacynthe and Sally Saiffi. The visual artist Zïlon will also do a live performance and will create some of the visuals.

The Foundation, a non-profit organization involved in organizing events since 1991, takes one particular cause to heart, namely aiding individuals living with HIV /AIDS, an aspect that will not be neglected during the event.

This year’s official Festival program lineup will run from October 6^th to 12^th and will include the ever popular Jock Ball with Shawn Riker and David Laguer; the Leather Ball with Scott Thomson, Jack Chang and Escape (Friday, October 8^th); the Military Ball (Saturday, October 9^th) with DJs Manny Lehman, Tony Moran and Stéfane Lippé, and the Recovery Party at Stereo (Monday, October 11^th), in addition to a host of other activities in Village area clubs.

True to its mandate of organizing large multimedia events and seeking to spur the enthusiasm of an audience of ever increasing sophistication, BBCM Foundation takes great pleasure in announcing that the DJs for the main Black & Blue Festival event to be held at Palais des Congrès on Sunday, October 11^th will be Sasha, John Digweed and Dave Seaman from the UK, and Montréalers Franco Fabi and Stéfane Lippé. An announcement earlier this summer to this effect triggered a wave of ticket buying and provided advance indication that the 2009 Festival promises to be a hit with attendees.

Widely recognized for its original artistic concepts, this year's Black & Blue Festival will showcase a concept dubbed 'LITE Switch' which was developed around the theme of light in collaboration with lighting design expert François Roupinian of Lightemotion. François, the individual responsible for magnificent Black & Blue event lighting from 2003 through to 2008, will be contributing to 2009 proceedings in the capacity of special consultant to the artistic/event management team. As lighting is one of the key components of the event, BBCM continues to explore this facet with a view to ensuring use of the very latest in lighting technology. The light immersion concept, intended as the sole backdrop for the dance floor, is designed to create a realm unto itself and an extraordinary experience for participants. Back once again for 2009 are technical director Sylvain Tessier and sound expert Éric Tourangeau who has brilliantly orchestrated all sound-related aspects of nearly every Black & Blue event from the outset.

The main Black & Blue evening event will include a block-buster show segment, as well as theme-based entertainment. This year's main show, 'Switch Me On', will be directed by Mika of Théâtre POD and choreographed by Jean-Marc St-Yves. Employing a diversity of light technologies and featuring a colourful number spanning various musical genres, the show is certain to impress. The main number involves some thirty dancers in a tribute to 'commedia del arte' and features an original mélange of opera, ballet and house music. Exploring the theme of light through channels such as a choreographic variation in seven scenes, the same team will coordinate other entertainment segments to be presented during the evening.

Live shows

Other shows will be featured at the Black & Blue main event. The international star Kate Ryan will sing a few hits (one song in English and one song in French) on stage. The singer will be in Quebec to promote her new album, French Connection, which will be released on October 13.

The excellent electronic music group, Numéro#, from Montreal, will also perform live at the event for a special « closing show ».

Other Festival events

This year's official Festival program lineup will run from October 7^th to 13^th and will include the ever popular Leather Ball (Friday, October 9^th at Medley), Military Ball (Saturday, October 10^th at Salle Telus, where the international icon Amanda Lepore) and Recovery Party (Monday, October 12^th at Circus), in addition to a host of other activities in Village area clubs.

There will be official brunches in different restaurants, tea dances, pre-parties and post‑parties. BBCM is once again affiliating with À Contre-courant swim club for the team's annual swimathon, and with Big Jump, Montréal's gay volleyball tournament. Both sporting events are scheduled to take place during the Festival.

BBCM will also be presenting two upscale events, namely the Launch Cocktail at Altitude 737 atop Place Ville-Marie and the President's Cocktail at the all new Westin Montréal just across from Palais des Congrès.

The different Festival VIP passes are already on sale. To purchase a pass or see what each includes, log on to one or other of www.ticketpro.ca or www.bbcm.org. These passes provide holders with priority access to events, as well as access to the VIP Lounge on the evening of the main Festival event. VIP pass holders will also receive a complimentary gift bag.

Preferred rate tickets for the main Festival event at Palais des Congrès are available for purchase online at www.ticketpro.ca. Tickets are also being sold at Priape Montréal located at 1311 Ste-Catherine Street East. Additional points of sale will be announced in the near future and tickets for various program events are scheduled to go on sale in mid-September. Mission of Foundation and importance of Black & Blue

The Foundation, a non-profit organization involved in organizing events since 1991, takes one particular cause to heart, namely aiding individuals living with HIV /AIDS. Hence the Foundation makes regular donations to organizations which provide direct assistance and care. The Foundation also helps gay and lesbian community organizations by providing promotional and logistics assistance, and by making donations. BBCM Foundation contributes handsomely to tourism development through the organization of events designed to draw tourists from countries around the world and by boosting promotional efforts aimed at showcasing Montréal as a destination prized for its many attractions and events. Next year, in 2010, BBCM Foundation and Black & Blue will be celebrating their 20^th anniversary. What better opportunity for participants-new and from years past-to join together in a dazzling celebration of twenty years of solidarity, team spirit, equality, inclusion, open-mindedness, artistic excellence, hard work, partying and music!

Mo' Fun. Mo' Flags. Six Flags. Popular Theme Park Courts Gays in Montreal Quebec

Six Flags, the world's largest regional theme park company with 20 parks across the United States, Mexico and Canada is launching its own gay adventure in six of its fun-tastic parks this summer. Dubbed "Out in the Parks", the international LGBT tour kicks its high heels off on August 16 in Louisville, followed by stops in DC, Baltimore, Montreal, San Francisco, and New Jersey. The tour wraps in Los Angeles on September 25th in conjunction w/ Logo & Tom Whitman Productions. "Out in the Parks" started six years ago at New Jersey's Six Flags Great Adventure. "It was a hit from year one", says co-founder Mark Nelson, a New York-based LGBT events planner and producer. "Last year was our biggest with over 8,300 gays, lesbians, transsexuals and their families enjoying the endless thrills of Six Flags. We decided now was the year to expand to additional parks." In the weakened economy, gay men like Seth Barbaro of Maryland like the idea of gay stay-cation. "Six Flags is a more affordable alternative to Disney's Gay Days. I don't have it in my budget to pay for a roundtrip flight to Orlando and hotel stay this year." "Out in the Parks promises a great night outdoors with rides, music and special entertainment," adds event co-founder Gage Kristofer. The "Out in the Parks" party in Montreal Quebec is from 6pm-3am followed by an after-party at Parking Nightclub. The events are private, allowing LGBT attendees the freedom to enjoy the open-air thrill rides and water attractions without fear of harassment. Of course, what's a gay party without DJs and divas? Talent scheduled to appear at "Out in the Parks" events include DJs Seth Gold, Corey Craig, Justin Ryan, The Perry Twins, and dance artists Ultra Nate, Paradiso Girls, LMFAO, Morningwood, The Daisy Spurs, Sylvia Tosun and Colton Ford. A portion of the proceeds will be remitted to the BBCM Foundation of Montreal, a non-profit organization supporting HIV-AIDS groups as well as gay community groups in Canada. "Out in the Parks" @ Six Flags hosted by Kat Coric & Tom Orlando Events takes place in Montreal Quebec on Friday Sept 4th from 6pm-3am featuring DJ's Justin Ryan and Corey Craig with special performance by Ultra Nate and Sylvia Tosun. The BBCM Foundation is pleased to announce the details regarding its major summer event, the Twist Weekend, taking place in Montreal from July 30th to August 3rd. The TWIST WEEKEND is back this year with major activities which will bring together the hot boys from everywhere and will provide fun, good energy and good music. GAY DAY AT THE BEACH... AND AN AMAZING BEACH PARTY
On the Saturday of the Twist Weekend, it's always very warm and humid. The best way to enjoy such a day is to head to the beach! The BBCM team, in collaboration with Parking Nightclub, has created the event that you need: a gay day at the beach of Parc Jean-Drapeau on a fantastic and accessible site (including a platform overlooking the swimming lake on Notre-Dame Island) and in the company of great DJs. Make sure you check out this wonderful event that is as popular as ever. It is strongly suggested to purchase your tickets in advance (the capacity is limited). One of the highlights of the Twist Weekend, it's the best way to spend a warm summer afternoon day just before you head to the Twist Party later that night ! DJs for the beach party are: Ian Key, Stéfane Lippé and Charles Poulin. So, on Saturday, August 1st, from 1 PM to 10 PM, head for the Beach of "Parc Jean-Drapeau" (Jean-Drapeau metro station, just two stations away from the Gay Village area, follow the indications at the exit of the metro station, there is a city bus that runs from the metro station to the beach).

THE TWIST PARTY
After your day at the beach, come to Club Medley and meet all the hot boys in town! The main event of the Twist Weekend, the Twist Party is always pure fun! It's at a big venue called Le Medley, on Saturday, August 1st , all-night long (starting at 10 pm). It is with pleasure that the BBCM has invited the DJ/producer Mark Anthony to spin at this event. More major DJs will be confirmed shortly. The Twist Party is always a favorite with the Montreal clientele and with many tourists who also attend this « happy house music » event which also offer surprises and entertainment during the night!

TWIST ENCORE PARTY
The following day, on Sunday, August 2nd, the BBCM team presents the Twist Encore Party at Parking Nightclub. This event will also be packed because of its huge popularity each year and certainly because of the DJs playing at the event that night. It is strongly suggested to arrive early and to purchase your tickets in advance. With the excellent DJs Patrick Dream (Montreal) and Hector Fonseca (New York), the partygoers will be sure to spend an excellent night in the company of the best looking crowd in town! Madonna's remixer, the DJ Producer Johnny Vicious, in Montreal for the Black & Blue Festival's Recovery Party

The BBCM Foundation is proud to announce that the world acclaimed DJ/producer Johnny Vicious will play at the Black & Blue Festival's official Recovery Party, taking place at Circus Nightclub on Monday, October 12. Mr. Vicious' visit to Montreal will allow revellers to hear the beats of one the most sought remixers in the last twenty years or so. He remixed such artists as Whitney Houston, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, and Madonna, just to name a few.

Johnny Vicious has been present on the house music and electronic music scenes since the end of the eighties. He has headlined numerous major international events and has held residencies in legendary clubs such as New York's Paladium and Roxy.

The Recovery Party takes place this year at Circus after hours from 11 PM. The DJs Charles Poulin (Quebec) and Ben Manson (Paris) will also play during the evening.
